About MSR  

Maumee Scout Reservation is the main camping property owned by the Hoosier Trails Council.  Maumee covers over 640 acres surrounding Lake Tarzian, a 64-acre crystal-clear lake with bass, bluegill and other panfish to keep any fisherman happy.
 

Aquatic activities include: swimming, canoeing, paddle-boarding, log-rolling, rowboating and fishing.

Other activities on the property include: camping, hiking, bird-watching, tree and leaf identification as well as a variety of planned events and activities for campers and guests

How’s The Weather at MSR Right Now?

Maumee Scout Reservation is located in the Hoosier National Forest, approximately 45 minutes southeast of Bloomington, Indiana and 45 minutes southwest of Columbus, Indiana. The Camp Administration Building is adjacent to the parking lot.  

GPS Warning: GPS Systems frequently will route users onto roads that were permanently flooded with the creation of Lake Monroe. Always use caution when navigating by GPS! Please read the directions below and check out the map tool at the bottom of this page. 

From Columbus, Indiana

I-65 south to IN-58 going west.  IN-58 west through Freetown to Kurtz. In Kurtz, turn right (north) on CR-875W (large green sign “Maumee Boy Scout Camp”). Stay on the paved road as it changes to 1190W. You will pass Maumee Valley Horse Camp. Take the next paved road to the left, CR-990N (sign). Travel 1.4 miles to the camp entrance on your left (sign). 

From Bloomington, Indiana

IN-37 South to IN-46 East to IN-446 (on the east side of Bloomington). Take IN-446 South across Lake Monroe to Tower Ridge Road (large green sign “Maumee Boy Scout Camp”). Turn left (West) on Tower Ridge Road/CR-1100N and travel all the way past the Hickory Ridge Fire Tower to CR-1500W. Turn right (South) on CR-1500W (sign). The road will make a sharp turn to the left and change to CR-925N. Continue on CR-925N, and the camp entrance will be on the right (sign). There are over 10 miles of gravel forest roads in this route from IN-446.

From Seymour, Indiana

I-65 North to US-50 West through Seymour to Memorial Drive (High School). Take Memorial Drive north to IN-258. Take IN-258 west to IN-58 west. IN-58 west through Freetown to Kurtz. In Kurtz, turn right (north) on CR-875W (large green sign “Maumee Boy Scout Camp”). Stay on the paved road as it changes to 1190W. You will pass Maumee Valley Horse Camp. Take the next paved road to the left, CR-990N (sign). Travel 1.4 miles to the camp entrance on your left (sign).

From Bedford, Indiana
